The Alumni Network

Something About the We the People Experience Sticks With You For a Lifetime

The We the People experience doesn't leave you. And neither does this community.
The We the People Alumni Network connects hundreds of thousands of alumni across every generation — from last year's national finalists to leaders who took the floor decades ago — all united by the same foundational belief: that an informed, engaged citizenry is the cornerstone of constitutional democracy.

We the People alumni go on to lead in law, government, education, business, advocacy, and public service. What they share isn't a career path — it's a civic identity, forged in the hours they spent learning what it really means to be part of a self-governing people.
  • We the People has reached more than 40 million students since 1987.
  • Alumni span all 50 states and dozens of countries.

What Alumni Say

I gained incredible skills, both hard and soft. Yet, arguably more important, I have gained a community, a family, and a place in a civically-minded home.
Olivia G., 2025 We the People National Finals Student
I stay connected to the We the People program because…. "We the People was a formative experience that led me down a path of public service."
Lauren M., 2013 Oregon We the People Participant

Stay Connected. Stay Involved.

The alumni network is what you make it. Here's how to plug in at whatever stage you're at:
  • Connect — Join the We the People Alumni Network LinkedIn group, run by alumni for alumni. Find career connections, academic advice, and people who–when it comes to your love of case analysis or political philosiphers–they just get it.
  • Volunteer — Serve as a judge at a local or state hearing. Share your story. Mentor a student. The state and national programs depend on you.
  • Give Back — Support the next generation of We the People students. See how your support can carry forward civic education.
  • Nominate — Know an alumna or alumnus doing remarkable things? We want to hear about them. Submit a nomination for the annual alumni awards.
About

CCE LogoThe Center for Civic Education is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating an informed and thoughtful citizenry committed to democratic principles and actively engaged in the practice of democracy. We do this primarily through our flagship programs, We the People and Project Citizen, but we also provide high-quality, inquiry-driven curricular programs that bring civic learning to life. The Center additionally equips educators with professional learning that builds confidence and capacity to teach civics with depth and relevance, unlocks students’ civic agency by creating opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and share their voices through simulated hearings and other public forums. These initiatives build a national community committed to strengthening civic understanding and participation for all and root everything in decades of research and evidence. Learn more.
