Lesson Purpose

Suppose your government does everything it can to protect your rights. Is this enough? Will your rights be protected? Do we have any responsibility to protect not only our own rights, but each other’s as well? In this lesson, you will discuss some important questions about the responsibilities of citizens. You must develop your own answers to these questions. We hope this lesson helps you develop good answers.

Lesson Objectives

When you have finished this lesson, you should be able to
  • explain some of the responsibilities related to important rights,
  • evaluate a situation in which the rights of individuals conflict with the common good, and
  • take and defend a position on the issue.
