Thomas Fitzsimons was born in Ireland, moving to America about 1760.
He lived in Philadelphia, where he was a prominent businessman.
He fought in the Revolutionary War, donating money to the patriots’ cause.
Fitzsimons served in the Continental Congress and as a Pennsylvania state legislator.
He did not say much at the Philadelphia Convention, although he attended regularly and favored a strong national government.
Fitzsimons served three terms in the House of Representatives but spent most of the rest of his life attending to his business interests.
