About Justice Is Also Deaf Professional Development Media Hearings
The Center for Civic Education collaborates with Civication, Inc., to promote civic education in schools for the deaf. The Justice Is Also Deaf project encourages deaf and hard of hearing students and teachers to participate in the We the People program. Teams of teachers from Deaf schools across the country attend a free professional development institute. During the institute, teachers immerse themselves in the We the People curriculum, acquire content knowledge, learn interactive methods, and participate in a simulated congressional hearing. The participants are partnered with a mentor teacher with significant expertise in the program.
