CONGRESSIONAL CONFERENCES ON CIVIC EDUCATION
Download the Congressional Conference Brochure
The Congressional Conference on Civic Education has convened annually since 2003 as a national gathering for those committed to restoring the historic civic mission of our nation’s schools. Complimenting the Center’s Campaign to Promote Civic Education, the Conferences have initiated and sustained a national movement to strengthen civic education at the state and local levels. Each state is represented at the Conferences by delegations of legislators, education policymakers, educators and concerned citizens. In addition to assembling campaign delegations from each state, the Conference also draws civic and private sector leaders and key representatives from national educational organizations.
The Conference is hosted by the joint leadership of the United States Congress and sponsored by the Alliance for Representative Democracy, a partnership of the Center for Civic Education, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the Center on Congress at Indiana University. Four Congressional Conferences have been held with one more scheduled for September 2007.
