Bill of Rights Day, December 15, commemorates the adoption of the Bill of Rights in 1791.

Warren E. Burger, former Chief Justice of the United States, wrote in an introduction to the Center for Civic Education’s With Liberty and Justice for All textbook, “We must all develop an understanding of the principles and values of the Bill of Rights and make the commitment necessary to promote liberty, justice, and equality.”

The podcast series explores the historical ideas that have influenced the development of Bill of Rights, the evolution of rights in the United States, and their protection today. In addition, listeners will learn why it is important to understand both our rights and our responsibilities in order to promote liberty and justice for all people.

You can find 60-Second Civics on the Center’s website, on iTunes, and on Stitcher (use promo code: SIXTYSECONDCIVIC).
